These are stiffer than my Anasazi Velcros, and are thus much better for edging on small rails and for toeing into small pockets. They also aren't flexible enough for me to smear that well. I've been wearing these for about 5 years now, and I pull them out mainly for my tougher climbs. They aren't as comfortable as my Velcros or Moccasyms, and they took longer to break in, but now they fit my foot like a glove. I haven't had the problem with the Achilles tendon that others have mentioned.

A really good shoe for trad or sport although not best suited for the very steep stuff since they lack the down turned toe. They have a more secure heel than the velcros (good for hooking) due to the laces. The heel is very agressive and pushes your toes forward to dig down which is good for toe power but I've heard some people say that it was far too painful on their achilles heel area. Having said that once I wore my pair in they became reasonably comfortable. All in all a great shoe with masses of edging power, I have not been disapointed in parting with that hefty sum of money.

My favourite shoe.

I _love_ this shoe. It's only very slightly downturned, so not the best tool for toeing in on ridiculously overhung boulder problems, but for steep powerful sport climbing it's the best shoe i've ever tried. The heel cup is fantastic, and the shape of the shoe really puts the emphasis on your big toe, without sacrificing comfort.

The best in friction!!!

Very good shoes with a "dreaming" friction at overall!!

Good all around shoes, leaves something to be desired when smearing. Great edge work.

Just fyi- I sized mine a little small.
Decent agressive shoe for small cracks and edging. I found that the smearing capabilities left something to be lacked although it offered good grip in big toe sized pockets. I do love how the heel stays put on this shoe.
