Also really good for toe and heelhooking! Like it a lot!
The stix are one of the best shoes if ever climbed. i think they are an all around wonderful shoe! nuff said
There is a reason you see those Australian guys climbing "V16" roof problems on youtube in these things. The Scarpa Stix is flexible, the Vibram XS Grip rubber is sticky, and the shoes is light and fairly comfortable while still maintaining a performance oriented fit. Most of the shoe is made of suede, but with rubber in key areas, the shoe breaks in nicely without stretching to the point of being baggy. I've had them for 2 years and a resole and they still make that tight-fit sound when I put them on. The Lorica toebox does not stretch, so your toes remain in that downward curve for as long as they hold up. They heel hook well for a slipper if sized snug, and the unique appearance always gets looks at the climbing gym.
The craftsmanship of Scarpa is second to none. My Stix were very well made, and I have had no issues with them coming apart or breaking down, excluding normal wear and tear of the rubber sole. I climb in them semi-regularly but not as my everyday climbing shoe, and they have held up, but the Lorica in the toe area not covered in rubber has started to thin out. If you size them tight, eventually something will have to give, but considering that I have made them last this long and they still perform at a high level after a resole, I could not be more pleased.
I feel that the Stix/Booster/Magos run smaller than a La Sportiva Testarossa, which I consider a similar shoe. I wear 41s for a tight fit in the Scarpas listed, and I wear a size 40 in Testarossas for the same fit. I consider the toebox somewhat wider than other "aggressive" shoes, definitely wider than a 5.10 dragon, but they aren't roomy, just not as pointy. You can see what I mean in most photos.
I'm very disappointed that Scarpa has discontinued them, but if you can find your size on clearance somewhere, and you're looking for a technical slipper that works great on steep stuff, grab them.
